How To Cure Pain Caused Due To Wisdom Tooth Removal?

I had my wisdom teeth pulled 9 days ago. I went back to the dentist just now and they said the pain I was feeling and the rough jagged object irritating my tongue was exposed jaw bone. They want me to see an oral surgeon. will this heal on its own with time. I'm 55. My e mail is ljbrown52yahoo.com

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain the exposed jaw bone after removal of wisdom tooth cannot heal by itself and it is needed to be trimmed, smoothened and covered with gum flap followed by placement of stitches.

It does not heal by itself as the gum tissue cannot grow on its own and cover the bone and the bone cannot be left exposed naked in the mouth and needs to be covered with the gums to initiate healing and acquire normal anatomy.

You should consult an ORAL SURGEON and get check-up done so that he can plan an appropriate treatment to heal your exposed bone.

By the time the treatment is done avoid touching the area with the tongue to avoid injury to the tongue by roughened edges of bone.

Hope your query is solved..

Thanks and regards..
