My 13 year old daughter has a pea size bump/lump on her Areola. It is painful and is was small. Yesterday she was having pain and it was the size of a pea and so large it was clear with a couple spots of red inside the clear. She took a warm bath and it reduced in size but still painful. She put bandaids over the spot and this evening she took off the bandaids and found it had popped, puss and blood coming out. After she clean it out of all the puss it left a small hole and is still painful and a litte raised in size. We put some cream on it and put a bandaide over it to keep it clean. Should I take her to see a doctor or do you think it was an infected breast bump in her areola?
Please don't panic. In my opinion, she must have developed abscess in that area.
As pus had already come out, I will suggest applying local antiseptic ointment. And tablet Paracetamol as needed orally for pain. If the lesion is not improving, then a 5 days course of broad-spectrum antibiotic containing Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid is advisable.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
