How To Cure Sudden Redness On The Butts, Lower Back And Inner Thighs Which Are Not Itchy?

My 10 year old daughter came home from school and thought her butt was sore from itchy jeans. It was red on her butt and lower back on both sides but not raised. She soaked in an Aveeno bath for 30 mins and was better. A few hours later it was back -- irritated but not itchy. This morning everything was fine. She wore a skirt to prevent further chaffing if that was the problem. Now the same redness, still not raised is on her inner thighs. Tried Benedryl and it didn't help.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

Seems to me a case of Cloth Dermatitis judging from the distribution of the rash.

In such a case as a treating doctor i would have asked you to apply a moderately potent steroid cream twice daily for a week.

It is advisable to wash the jeans thoroughly (specially if it was a new jeans) as it is possible that the cloth dermatitis happened due to it.

regards
take care
