How To Cure Swelling Of Submandibular Salivary Gland?

I have had a swollen submandibular salivary gland for about 7 weeks. It's fairly soft and overall the size hasn't changed but it is much bigger and more firm in the morning when I first wake up. It also gets a little bigger and harder when I eat. Not much bigger though and there is no pain. It's not big enough to see (unless i just ate or woke up) but it can be easily felt.

Brief answer: Salivary stones or Sialoliths.

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain it seems that you have a sub-mandibular salivary gland swelling due to stone formation which are mineralized structures formed by the minerals present in the saliva.

These stones may obstruct the salivary gland ducts causing obstruction in the path of flow of saliva from the salivary glands to the mouth and at times there can back flow of saliva from the ducts back to the gland leading to swelling of the gland..

As during getting up in the morning and eating the salivary flow is more so the swelling is more that time due to more saliva formation and secretion from glands..

I would suggest you to consult an Oral pathologist who can do a clinical check up and required pathological investigations to rule out the exact cause of the swelling and treat you accordingly or refer you to the appropriate specialist..

As there are certain other reasons for salivary gland swelling like infections, cysts, tumors etc.

Hope you get well soon..

Thanks and regards..
