How To Cure Tastelessness Caused On Tongue Due To Burning?
I burned my tounge on Dec 23rd on coffee. The burn was so bad that I automaticlly spit it out but it burned my tounge, the top of my mouth and even a little bit on my chin. I haven't been able to taste since then. The very back of my tounge can taste a little bit because I didn't swallow. Will I get my taste back? or because some scar tissue MIGHT have formed, can this be perminant?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
As per your complain and presentation of symptoms loss of taste is due to destruction of the tongue papillae that contains taste buds and it is due to burning of the tongue..
Mostly if the burns are not severe the tongue will heal soon and the taste will gradually recover as the taste buds regenerate every about 2 weeks, but in case if the burns are severe and it has involved the deeper layers it needs to be evaluated by an Oral Physician and treatment can be planned accordingly..
Nothing to worry gargle with a steroid based mouthwash for reducing inflammation.. Take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen. Avoid spicy food. In case if the taste does not recover consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
