Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It can be dandruff if it is light and flaky or if the scales are very thick and greasy it can be seborrhoeic dermatitis. In both cases you will require oral antifungal treatment along with antifungal shampoos. You will also have to keep scalp psoriasis in mind if your problem is recurrent, seasonal, associated with bleeding on scratching or if the patches extend beyond the hairline.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
