Hi, I've been chewing for about 2 months now. 5 days ago after I took my dip out I noticed my cheek felt kinda swollen. There's no white but there is a bit of a bump. I've cut back and chewed 3 times since but it doesn't seem to be going away. I was told it was because I bit my cheek but I'm not sure. What are the chances it's cancer or disease?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of habitual biting of oral mucosa which occurs mainly due to stress and psychological conditions leading to trauma to mucosa and excessive keratin formation due to which lump is there and this is known as frictional keratosis.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take multivitamin supplements. Avoid chewing tobacco and chew sugar free chewing gums to avoid chewing cheek. engage yourself in other activities. Avoid sharp and spicy food. Apply orabaser gel on area and maintain hygiene. visit dentist once and get complete examination done and start proper course of antibiotics along with antiinflammatory medication. You should go for biopsy of lesion as well to rule out any malignancy.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
