How To Deal With Visual Hallucinations?

A family member with a past drug history retuned home from prison last year. Things have been going fairly well, but in the last week he is showing signs of great stress and is seeing people come through his window and follow him outside. He also reported they follow his car and shine lights on him. I believe he is only using prescribed medications and is hallucinating the rest. he is seeing a psychologist. Is there something else to help?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The visual hallucinations and paranoid delusions would be suggestive of schizophrenia. It is important that he sees his psychologist regularly, and also sees a psychiatrist to start him on medications to help with this psychiatric condition, such as anti-psychotics like quetiapine or risperidone.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
