How To Deal With Withdrawal Of Alcohol And Meth During Pregnancy?

hi, my name is Jen, I'm 30 years old and about 13 weeks pregnant. This is my first pregnancy. I am going through some major withdrawals form alcohol and meth. Due to this tremendous change in lifestyle I was terminated from my job of 10 years. I live in Wisconsin and filed for Badger care, but I'm still in the waiting period. I am sleeping about 10 hours a day, I have no energy, I'm very irritable and I get so angry at either the smallest thing or even nothing at all. I feel horrible for the way I treat my fiancé (also my baby's father). How do I deal with these withdrawals while pregnant and having no insurance?

I am so so sorry for what you are going through, it must be very difficult. However, I am very impressed with your strength and resolve to get through this. You are doing the right thing for you and your baby, so keep up the good work! Withdrawal from alcohol and meth are treated the same way during pregnancy as they are when you are not pregnant. However, the medications that are sometimes used, such and anti anxiety medications are generally not considered safe during pregnancy. However, under a doctor's supervision, they sometimes do need to be given anyway, after all the risks and benefits are considered. Depending on how severe your symptoms are, withdrawal can sometimes be managed without medications.

As long as you are able to manage the symptoms on your own, that is fine, but if you feel like you are going to relapse, or if you start feeling tremors, shaking uncontrollably, if you feel like you may harm yourself or someone else, if you have severe pain that is uncontrolled, severe headaches, or any other symptoms that are unbearable, then you need to be seen in an emergency room. There you will be seen even without insurance, and they will be able to set you up with public assistance and programs that can help you even without insurance. Any pregnant woman is eligible for medical assistance, so they should be able to help you get care. I know this is difficult, but I hope this helps you and I wish you only the best. If you have any more questions, please feel free to let me know.
