How To Determine Skin Type?

My skin tone is so inconsistent that it's hard for me to stick to just one type/brand of skin care. How do I know which is my skin type? Normal, dry or oily? Sometimes my nose is oily, others times it's normal. Sometimes the same part of my face is oily and the next day dry. I'm confused
