Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My baby has had two incidents/days (the first on Dec. 24th and the second last night) in the past 19 days of a fever (101.5-102.7 range) accompanied with fast, shallow breathing. On 12/24 he had respiration rates varying between 50-60/minutes and grunted when breathing the ER doctors said it sounded like croup and gave him a dose of steroids. Last night he spiked a fever again and had issues breathing. This time is was fast, shallow, and loud. More like a wheeze and not a grunt. He had a couple of episodes lasting around 5 minutes and then they would stop. Could this be reactive airway or asthma?
Hi, As there is history of long duration fever with respiratory problem, it requires evaluation of case of your baby. Just knowing baby is asthmatic or not is not enough. Consult pediatrician and get examined and go for investigations and get diagnosed properly. Ok and take care.
