Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How To Diagnose Sudden Growth Of A Mole On The Neck?
I have a mole on my neck about half an inch from my ear lobe. Every so often it begins to get a rough edge that peels off. What comes off is slightly brown or dark in color with white on the end that was apart of my skin. I am having no other symptoms with it.
Moles are very common in our body. Almost every adult has a few moles. Adults who have light skin often have more moles. We may have 10 – 40 moles on our skin. This is normal. But you should be very careful when a mole starts growing in size or its color changes. Melanoma, a type of dangerous skin cancer, can grow in or near a mole. If detected early and treated, melanoma can be cured. The first sign of melanoma is often a change to a mole or a new mole on your skin. Checking your skin can help you find melanoma early. I suggest you to immediately go to a surgeon or dermatologist for further diagnosis and treatment. Thanks!
