How To Do Dressing For The Deep Cut Of Finger?

Hi, so I cut off the whole tip off my finger including half of my nail just missed the bone. I went to the ER and they patched it up and told me he has to keep checking on it but I had to make an appointment. I did, but the doctor is now on vacation and can't see me untill two weeks. It's already been two weeks since I saw him and now another two weeks and the dressings are filty! What can I buy from the store to change it myself? (What he did is real simple, just cleaned it with stearlized water, put some kind of liquid on it, put a pice of metal protection, wraped it in gauze which is held by tape...) Please help**

Dressing is done to prevent infection of the wound which would delay the healing.
You can do dressing by cleaning the wound with saline and putting antiseptic cream like Soframycin on it ans then covering with gauze and bandage.
