How To Drain Bleeding Caused In Brain Due To A Stroke?

My twin brother had a stroke 11 days ago, his brain is still bleeding the doctors have put a drain tube coming out of his head it drains into a bag that the nurses have to empty several times a day. Yesterday the drain got clogged and it caused his pupil to burst in his good eye before they reinserted another drain. My question is he has been on life support for 11 days in a coma now the doctors are saying the tube is going to be reinserted back into his stomach is that standard procedure.
