How To Eliminate Intestinal Worms In A Child?

Hi doctor, My daughter 5 yrs.old is constipated for 5 days. Last night i compelled her so she did some hard potty. But today when I was cleaning her area with a wipe I saw a worm in her wipe. What should I do. My doctor had advised me Zentel 10 ml but I have not yet given. Can deworming be done in constipated stomach. Please advise.

Hi,

The Zentel contain Albendazole anti-helminthic drug. Usually it kills almost all type of helminth. So yes it can be prescribed for your child. Take it as per your doctor advise. Don't worry regarding not giving in constipation condition.

Sometime excess worm can lead to intestinal obstruction. So as constipation associated, USG can be done for further work up.
