I am 33yrs old, 5 2 normal female... 38wks 5days pregnant, my Dr said last wk that my baby is not engaged into my pelvis, what are some ways to get the baby to move down? I had a nurse tell me to have sex, the properties in sperm are like that of a medication they would give someone to get the cervix to soften is that true? Also when i do have contractions my belly makes a grumbling sound like there are air pockets is that normal?
OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine, Dr. Prabha 's Response
Hi normally in pregnancy if the fit is fine head gets fixed 36 to 38 weeks depending on primi or otherwise. Engagement of the head happens only in labour. Meanwhile you could carry on your usual exercise of walking and stretches. If head is still floating your doctor will decide if there is cephalopevic disproportion or wait for labour and decide. If pain does not come as on date give an induction trial. It is nature that decides the course so go with your obstetricians advice
