Hello,

Thank You for your query !

First of all, congratulations...That sounds like a wonderful attempt for your weight loss !
Hair loss has so many reasons and millions are experiencing it and are eager to get the treatment started.
Now hair loss is of many types but what mainly affects people is : androgenetic alopecia or telogen effluvium. These do sound complicated but are actually not. Androgenetic Alopecia is mainly your male/female pattern baldness. Men & women usually see this patterned baldness in their early 30s and later. Men commonly see receeding hairline and have temporal loss of hair or balding at the vertex(top) of your scalp. Women on the other hand hair loss in the centre parting of their hair. This is called angrogenetic alopecia and is genetically determined.
Telogen effluvium just means losing hair diffusely leading to thinning of hair and loss of volume. Commonly affects women and are due to many reasons such as recent illness, pregnancy, thyroid, PCOS, diet, surgery, stress, menopause, low iron/vitamin levels, repeated external damage (products, hair ironing, coloring, re-bonding, straightening), chemotherapy and cancer, certain medications etc.
In your case what i feel is you have the second one that is telogen effluvium mainly due to your diet change. It usually triggers 2-6 months post weight loss. It is always advisable to take multi-vitamin supplements when you go on a diet as they substitute for your nutritional loss. Also protein should never be stopped/reduced in a weight loss diet.
What is the solution? You can start multivitamin supplements for 6 months straight. Look for one that has iron, zinc, 5-10mg biotin, gamma lenolenic acid (essential omega 6 fatty acid). One tablet of this everyday should help you great deal.
See your physician for the bald patches as it could need assessment. Also look for treatments at your local dermatologist or cosmetic/aesthetic physician called mesotherapy, stem cell therapy, PRP, etc which stimulate hair growth.

Hope I have answered all your queries, good day to you as well !
