Hi,
what s is sure is that you have an infection of the urethra called urethritis. With adequate and oriented antibiotherapy, the clinical response is usually good. However, its advisable to do a urethral swab to identify the actual germ at the source of this infection and a culture sensitivity test, to determine an appropriate antibiotic that shall aid in clearing off this infection. As you go to see your family care physician, its advisable to drink a lot of water, and in case you got a sexual partner, not avoid unprotected sex to avoid your risk of maybe getting contaminated with other germs or her. Counseling her to consult her physician too for a proper screening could be advisable. Left untreated, the infection can become chronic and cause long term complications like chronic non specific discharge or urethritis, chronic pain or urethral strictures.
I would advise you meet your doctor for a proper evaluation and management plan.
Hope this helps,
Luchuo, MD.
