How To Get Rid Of Itchy Rash On Arms And Legs Permanently?

My Mom (who is 86) has had a very itchy rash on her arms and legs for about 2 months. Her doctor has prescribed 2 doses of a mild steroid which takes away the itch while she is taking the medication but once it s done, the itching comes right back. She has tried lotions (for dry skin) and is house-bound, so she has not been in contact with biting bugs or poisonous plants.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The rash is likely an allergic reaction to an agent in her environment or related to food/drink/medication.

She may want to consider allergy testing which can be done in the form of blood tests or skin prick testing.
If she can determine the exact source of the reaction and reduce her exposure then the symptoms should resolve.

I hope this helps
