Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have normal/combination skin I rarely get zits or pimples. During the winter my skin gets dry and i moisturize allot, then during the summer I have slightly oily skin and i break out more but not too much. I get these bumps on my chin, forehead, nose ,and sometimes my hair line but it's not pimples they can't be popped and they don't itch and they're skin colored they do nothing except sit on my face and make me look ugly what are they and how can I get rid of them?! Last summer they were covering my forehead and they looked sooo bad, help! I exfoliate 2-3 times a week and I wash my face but they're not pimples?
The bumps on your face can be due to: 1. Bacterial infection of sebaceous glands or hair follicles 2. Increased production of sebum from sebaceous glands in the skin 3. Increase proliferation of cells & blockage of these glands 4. Inflammation.
Management involves: 1. Isotretinoin- it reduces the proliferation of cells in the sebaceous gland & decreases the production of sebum. 2. Antibiotics such as Mupirocin, which provides antibiotic cover against bacterial infection.
Since you have an oily skin, you need to avoid oily foods, drink lots of water & clean your face with an oil free cleanser three times a day for reduction of pimples.
Wishing you a good health. Take care.
