Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
The top of my left foot has been hurting for almost a week now. The pain is along the top edge of my foot going to my little toe. I didn t injure it that I recall. I cannot walk barefoot at all, it s too painful. I have been icing it, but it doesn t do any good. No swelling though. I run between 1 to 3 miles every day on my treadmill and power walk the balance of the time for 40 to 45 minutes a day.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Pain on top edge of foot going towards little toe could be due to nerve injury. A history of walking on treadmill and power balance can be the cause of nerve injury. Injury and trauma to the soft tissues of the foot could be another reason for pain on top of foot. Since, there is inability to walk, a fracture also needs to be ruled out. Thus, you need to consult an orthopedician for clinical assessment and fracture of the bones of foot. In case there is evidence of bone fracture or soft tissue injury, appropriate measures can be taken to treat the cause of pain.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
