Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic
Acne scars and marks are a common complication of moderately severe to severe inflammatory acne.
Treatment of active acne is of utmost importance to prevent further spots and scars.
Treatment of acne is guided by the severity of acne; topical treatment alone will suffice for mild acne whereas moderately severe to severe grade of inflammatory acne is usually treated with both topical as well as oral treatment.
Topical treatment options include
Clindamycin Or
Benzoyl peroxide for day time use as a spot treatment of active inflammatory acne and Topical Retinoids for night time application to the whole affected area.
Oral antibiotics may be added if you have inflammatory acne i.e red and pus filled acne.
For post acne dark spots various pigment lightening creams are available on prescription of a dermatologist; the active ingredient in these creams being
kojic acid, azaleic acid,
hydroquinone,
glycolic acid etc.
Regarding acne scars various procedures are usually available with a dermatologist e.g Chemical peeling,
Microdermabrasion, Fractional Co 2 Laser and Microneedling etc. The choice of these procedure or combination of procedures is guided by the severity of acne scars.
I would suggest that you visit a dermatologist in your region. Your dermatologist will assess the severity of acne, acne spots and acne scars and advice accordingly.
