Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I really enjoy eating Angel of Mine Baby Powder, Cornstarch and sometimes chalk. Is there a way that I can cut out consuming the talcum powder and just eat (clean non-toxic) chalk and/or (GMO-free, organic) cornstarch without suffering any damaging effects? Also is there a mineral based alternative that I can eat that will give me the same texture and feel and taste as the things listed above?
Eating powder or chalk is not good for health. They can cause several digestive problems. I would need to know why you like to eat them.Is it because you get high urge to eat it in turn loosing control.Do you feel sorry after sometime. And is it possible to postpone your urge.If your answer is yes then probably you are having obsessive compulsive spectrum disorder.
If you were my patient I would have started you on SSRI like fluoxetine, instead of giving you alternative material. There are other options like cognitive behaviour therapy also.Since it is a prescription drug I would suggest you to consult Psychiatrist.
Hope the answer has helped you.
