How To Get Rid Of Scab On Top Lip?

I had a cold sore that went away but I still have an area on my top lip that is numb and scabbed. The scab will soften if I put an ointment on it and will come off. Under the scab is raw and burns. I have had this for 2 months now. Just when it feels like it may finally heal- it doesn t. I have tried Neosporin, Lotrimen, Oregano oil, Tea tree oil, carmex, hydrogen peroxide, lysine, and have been taking my prescription cold sore medicine just in case- any ideas?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms seem to be related to a cold sore.
The cause of the cold sores is a viral infection such as Herpes simplex.
I suggest using Acyclovir cream for local application.
I also recommend using Cetirizine 10 mg for the itching.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
