How To Get Rid Of Scars And The Problem With Discoloration Of Skin?

I have lots of prominent pimple scars, pigmentation on my face. Additionally I am prone to tanning and the tan doesn't fade easily. Hence my complexion too is several shades tanned. After consulting a dermatologist I was prescribed Diprovate S plus, Adapalene gel. I have been using adapalene gel for quite sometime without any issues. In the first two weeks of usage of Diprovate, my skin showed considerable improvement, with quite a lot of layers of tan removed as well as considerable fading of marks. But of late, my skin has become dry and the scars now look even more prominent, with discoloration of skin (turning dark) in some areas. Kindly advise.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
I understand that you have having acne scars and pigmentation on your face.
I would suggest that you stop Diprovate S immediately as it is a steroid which on long term use can cause side effects.
I would suggest you the following-
1. For acne scars, you will benefit from procedures like derma roller( microneedling), subcision and fractional lasers. The exact procedure / combination of procedures required can be determined after assessment of your scars.
2. For pigmentation, you may use 2% Kojic acid containing gel at bed time For 6-8 weeks.
3. You will also benefit from chemical peels - 6-8 sessions every 2-3 weeks. This will help your pigmentation as well as tanning.
4. To prevent further tanning, Please use a gel based broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 and above every 4 hourly.
Hope this helps you.
Take care.
