General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI,
I understand your concern.
Vaginal odor is ore present through out menstrual cycle.. as the hormonal activities change. But unpleasant/ excessive / fishy odor indicates some infection. This can be either bacterial/ monarchical. This usually associated with itching/ burning or pain( urination/ back )*this needs specific treatment after diagnosis by vaginal swab testing..as per a gynecologist's advise.
* In case you have no symptoms suggestive of infection.. probably you don't need any treatment. Just good genital / after sex hygiene would suffice.
Penicillin can act on certain bacterias, but not all. Also local treatment in form of vaginal pessaries/ hygiene are essential.
Thanks.
