I got a hole in my eardrum a few months back from an ear infection and the hole never completely sealed. I went wake boarding today and it feels like I got a ton of water in the hole. The hearing in that ear is about 50% and it feels pressurized. Will I need to go to a doctor or will it drain on its own?
Hi, water does not gets accumulated in the ear through the perforation. It only transmits infection through to the middle ear and this gives the symptoms like ear discharge, pain and decreased hearing. Perforation per se will also be the cause of decreased hearing. Please see an ENT and get your ear examined. Meanwhile, keep your ear dry, use antiseptic and antifungal ear drops and an antibiotic. Also if you wish to continue with your boarding hobby, please get surgery done for repair of ear drum (myingoplasty). Reagrds
