Hello Doctor , My dad is a diabetic patient. Two months ago he had a wound in leg and had treatment in a clinic , they made a surgery in leg and this wound did not get cured. Now there is pus getting out from the wound as thick yellow colour. Sugar level is 124 in fasting and 250 after food. Now we are taking insulin injection (Lupisin R) as 12-12-12. We had asked our doctor but he asked to dress in alternate days but as the pus is coming the wound getting wet. What can we do sir?

Hello Aravind;
welcome to HealthcareMagic
In diabetic patient the wound takes longer to get cured due to the damage caused by diabetes to the nerves and blood vessels.The sugar level of your father is controlled in fasting and the after food is high.The pus coming out of wound is a sign that infection is present in the wound and so your father needs cleaning and dressing of wound as well as a good antibiotic to help treat the infection of the wound.The better option is to consult a Surgeon and if required the surgeon will clean the wound and if needed he will do surgical debridement of wound which will help in early healing.
Thanks
