How To Heal Severe Ear Pain With Blood Associated Watery Discharge?

I went to the doctor yesterday for irrigation to clear excessive wax. I had no pain and no signs of infection until the doctor used a hand pump to blow out the wax. I had immediate, extricating pain which lasted for 10 hours along with watery discharge which became bloody after about 4 hours. My doctor says its now a ruptured eardrum and that I should take internal and topical antibiotics as prevention. Are antibiotics as prevention really necessary in this case?

Hello
Although it is not really necessary to take the antibiotics, but i would still recommend you start them , as i am not sure that the instruments and solution used for irrigating your ear were sterile or not.
If they were not sterile, then you have a higher chance of getting infected and it is better to start them!
take care
