How To Improve And Increase Lactation While Breast Feeding?

Hi, My baby girl has just completed 7 months. I am feeding her my BM and giving her solids like Rice, Wheat cerelac, Banana, Britannia Milk biscuits with combination of my BM or regular Buffalo Milk. I am a working woman so I do not get much time to Breast feed her in the day. She feeds actively in the evenings and nights. I alternatively try to pump milk in office hours if time permits but could not do that regularly because of hectic work schedule at office. I have not used any formula Milk till now and I am planning to continue breast feeding till she is atleast 2 yrs. My concerns are : 1. Will my supply reduce because of the gaps in between feeds/Pumps, if so how can I improve my supply naturally without any medications? I know that frequent feeding is the only remedy but I cannot do that because of my work. 2. My baby urinates atleast 8 times a day but poops only once a day, Is this fine as I hear so many moms saying that their babies poop 3-4 times a day. I do not even see any significant weight improvement, I infact see that she is getting thinner, but she is very active and happy baby.Should I be concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
I understand your concern.
Milk secretion is best stimulated with frequent feeds/ sucking by baby. It seems it's only because of office schedule, your baby is deprived of breast milk in day time.
*- your supply will not suffer because of few hours gap between feeds , but your baby will have lesser milk & will get the food items it can not digest at the age.. With use of breast pumps also breast milk will not be hampered.
Actually at 7 months age babies can digest breast milk the best. Before teething , the digestive enzymes are not active.so it's not possible for baby to & gain energy from the food articles/ nor the baby gets good nutrition to gain weight Solid t5hings can be added to baby's diet at 10 months when teething starts & digestive enzymes become active.
- Expressing breast milk during office hours-by breast pump while on work Preserve in clean utensil in freeze-
- Send it home for babies immediate feed
- This can be preserved in freeze for 24 hours. So can make for baby's need during office hours , the next day-- has to be heated warm in double boiler before feeding.
- She can be fed with cow milk whenever breast milk is insufficient, it is easier to digest. In case cow milk is not available, dilute buffalo milk with boiled water & add a bit of sugar to make it easily digestible & nutritious.
* A happy, baby with 8 times urination suggests baby is being satisfied with the feeding.
Passing motions differs in different babies. More over, top feed make the stool solid & so baby gets one poop only. Babies on breast feed have 3-5 times poops in a day.
* Weight gain may be lesser because of more activities.
Please don't be concerned. Try to give maximum breast feeds to baby.. if not possible add top feed with cow milk/ buffalo milk ( with some improvements in it's quality )
Thanks.
