I had blood work done at the ER and I do not understand my lab report. The heading is Coagulation. D Dimer 1647(1) H Reference Range 6-681 ng/ml FEU.

(1) This D-Dimer method is intened for use as an aid in the diagnosis of venous thromboembolism (VET)[deep vein thrombosis(DVT), or pulmonary embolism(PE). Using a cutoff of 450 ng/ml the negative predictive vaule is 95%. Results should be interpreted in conjunction with the patient's history and clinical presentation.

I have know idea if this is a good thing or a bad thing please could you help me?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The level of D-dimer is higher than the normal reference range of 6-681 ng/ml.
D-dimer level of 1647 is quite high and is suggestive of a thromboembolic phenomenon.
Thromboembolic phenomenon refers to formation of thrombus or embolus in pulmonary or other veins of the body.
You need to consult your treating physician for further management.
Anti-coagulants will be required to dissolve the thrombus/ embolus.

Thanks and take care
