How To Interpret The Laboratory Report?

Acid fast stain result is negative for acid fast bacili and my gram stain results are the following: 25-30/LPF pus cells; 10-15/LPF epithelial cells; moderate gram (+) cocci in pairs and in clusters; moderate gram (+) bacili and lastly few gram (-) bacili. Is these numbers normal? (It was hard to provide sputum or mucos if you are not even coughing). I have a history of PTB which was treated 4 years ago but never had any problem since. My Chest PA X-ray showed normal result except for a suspicious densities on my right upper lobe but after an apicolordotic X-ray session it showed that I have a clear spices. Please enlighten me.

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The sputum report showing bacterial is within normal limits.
Absence of AFB rules out possibility of tubercular infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
