Hi am Vasudha, I want explanation for my son 6 1/2 months old urine report. Details: pH- 6.5, specific gravity- 1.010, sugar- nil, albumin- traces, pus cells 2-4/HPF, epithelial cells 0-1/HPF, RBC- absent, crystals- calcium oxalate crystal present(++), casts- absent
Hello and welcome to HCM, The interpretation of urine report is as follows: The physical characteristics of urine sample- pH, specific gravity are within normal limits. Presence of pus cells and epithelial cells suggests presence of infection in urinary tract. Absence of red blood cells, sugar and proteins are normal findings. Presence of calcium oxalate crystals can be due to presence of calcium oxalate stones in the urinary tract.
An ultrasound of the kidney-ureter-bladder region is required to look for evidence of stone in the urinary tract. You need to consult your pediatrician for prescription of antibiotics for the urinary tract infection.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
