How To Keep TSH Levels Under Control During Pregnancy?
Hi there,I am 8 weeks pregnant and just after implantation, a large goiter came up on my neck. The same thing happened last year and I had suspected that I was pregnant and miscarried. I had a biopsy last year and all came back clear. I was tested for iodine and the results came back that I was really deficient. I started on an iodine supplement and the goiter reduced in size. I had cut back on my iodine supplement, however increased the dosage again when the goiter came back. I am now taking one drop of Lugols solution and the goiter has dramatically reduced in size and is now no longer visible. I have had an ultrasound on the goiter and it has collapsed and is far smaller than last year. My hormone levels have always been within the normal range, however since falling pregnant, my TSH levels have been slightly elevated (2.5 at 6 weeks and now 2.64 at 8 weeks). Could the increase in iodine be resulting in an increase in my TSH levels? Should I decrease the amount of iodine and if so, what dosage should I decrease it to? Is there anything else that I can do to reduce my TSH level naturally? Thanks in advance for your help. Regards Michelle

Hello Welcome to HCM Thanks for posting your query. I understand your concerns. Your TSHI are within normal limits. Slight increase is not a matter of concern No need to worry at all
Pregnancy is a demanding situation where your baby will be a parasite fully depending on your body's mechanisms. So all your hormones will be on higher side.
But regularly check your thyroid profile and key it within normal limits throughout pregnancy.
Hope you are happy with the answer.
Thank you
