Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I aam having thyroid since 11 years. I am 24 years old. I used to take 50mcg at first and then it was increased to 75 mcg. From the past 11 years my TSH was within 0.02-4.20. Suddenly, my TSH has increased to 5.73. I am worried about it. However, I missed some of my dosages in 3-4 days. I want to reduce my TSH and I do not want to increase it. Please, can you explain what is the consecuences of dosages 50mcg, 75mcg and 100mcg?
if such cases presented to me then I usually start therapy of hypothyroidism with lowest possible dose say 25 mcg and will advice my patient to follow up with thyroid profile test after 6 weeks. According to report I decide about dose of levothyroxine.
Secondly If you are taking some medications which has adverse effect on thyroid status then you should stop those medications.
I advice you to please consult near by physician for further evaluation, management and to rule out any secondary causes of hypothyroidism.
Thank you
Regards, Dr.Om
