How To Keep Blood Pressure Under Control?

Hi. I have had controlled blood pressure for quite some time. It. Has always been in the 120/80 range. Taking medication. At my yearly checkup two weeks ago it was 145/89. My doctor wanted me to check it for the next month. And I have been. It has continued to be in the 145/80 ish range. But today it was 172/96. I rechecked it later and it was 151/85. Should I be concerned? Should I go to my doctor soon?

Hello. Welcome to HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
Yes. You should visit a doctor but no need for emergency visit.

Ideally blood pressure should remain less than 140 /90 mmhg at any age. Persistent blood pressure above this will lead to Longterm complications. So we usually start treatment after persistent blood pressure elevation.

My advice to you is -

1. Go for 24 hrs ambulatory blood pressure pressure monitoring, which will give you proper idea regarding fluctuations of blood pressure. Then your doctor will be able to start medicines if needed.

2.Do daily brisk walking for 1 hr, remove any mental stress if there, eat more fruits and vegetables.

3 Do all routine blood reports I advice you - lipid profile, thyroid profile, blood sugar levels, kidney profile.

If blood pressure remains elevated your doctor will start a treatment for hypertension.

Thank you.
Have a nice day
