How To Keep Genitals Dry When Diagnosed With HSV-2?

Hi I was diagnosed hvs2 genitals in April 2016 which was my first outbreak thighs and genitals, no bursting of anything just painful, went away in about a week or two. Upto 4th July I m having another, this is going on day 4 Taking generic valtrex @1g It has appeared to be a fat limp note vaginal area (panty-line) but it burst ozzed for 2 days while still taking the meds, not that it stop ozzing it s still open and I hear I m suppose to keep it dry but how in that area? now I feel very small ouy-break on the lips of my vagina and red lil dots on both checks on my face, no out-break on my face the first time. Is this an out-break on my face now?why things keep popping up while taking 1g. I also want to simply say thank you for being here for us all going through this, I have no one to talk to so I m going through this alone and have never really been sexually-active but when it did this is what I got. I m feeling really down right now and don t know what to do. Please Help.....Pamela

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

When you suspect that a burst of vesicles is starting you should take Acyclovir tablets as soon as you can. Use Acyclovir ointment over the lesions. Take anti-inflammatory drugs such Advil or Acetaminophen for pain.

Use calamine lotion over them. There is no other way to prevent them. Also remember to wear loose and cotton underwear.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
