Hi,

Epilim is having valproate sodium. It is one of the oldest drugs for Epilepsy. It is a very good drug for seizure control but it comes with a lot of side effects like weight gain, mood swings, menstrual abnormality, drug interactions etc. So nowadays this drug is not preferred.

Newer antiepileptic drugs like Topiramate, Levetiracetam are very good at controlling epilepsy with the least side effects and drug interactions. So you should definitely switch to either Topiramate or Levetiracetam to avoid weight gain. So consult a neurologist and discuss all these.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
