General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Prescribtion drugs is a must for controlling BP. BP must be controlled up to normal limits (depending on your age). Urinary tract infection, if present must be treated well. Psychological stress is another factor affecting blood pressure. Apart from this, salt restricted / free diet as per your doctor's advise.
Pranayama and meditation for physical and mental health / regular simple physical exercise up to 45 minutes a day / maintain ideal weight, blood sugar and cholesterol / no smoking or alcohol indulgence are the life style changes help in BP management.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
