How To Lower The Cholesterol Level?

Hi, I am a 31 year old male with a family history of high cholesterol. I was just tested and have a 722 triglycerides and a low HDL level. Dr. prescribed me genfibrizol (4) 600 mg pills per night and diet change. I already watch what I eat and am pretty active hiking etc. Any thoughts?

Yes. Triglycerides can be lowered by restricting alcohol and fructose levels. Take all high fructose corn syrup out of your diet and quit drinking juice if you do. Eat only fresh fruit and limit the fruit to two per day. Supplement your diet with omega-3 fatty acids. If overweight, lose weight and all of this with the traditional low saturated fat, no trans fat, high soluble fiber, 250 minutes of exercise/week. I hope this gives you additional ideas for lowering those triglycerides!Kathryn Shattler, MS,RDN
