My wife has sever early onset dementia and is bed bound. I'm fighting for her ever breath and as her husband and caregiver, I've been taking care of her now for 12 years. She has systemic tendon contracture and is incontinent and has a feeding tube. She's fighting off a second bought of C-Diff with Dificid $4000. for a bottle of 20 pills or a 10 day supply. When I get up at night to change her diarrhea seems to go into her vagina. I clean it out as best I can with soap and water and then a cream to protect her skin. How can I keep the loose poop from going into her vagina and causing a urinary tract infection. I love my wife more than anyone else in the world and I would like to have her around for a few more years. She just turned 65 on Christmas day. She can't speak so I have to anticipate her every need and when she needs to be changed. In the day I have a caregiver helper but when I to sleep at night I don't know when she's going to go so sometimes she sits in her poop for hours even though I get up 2 to 3 times a night. How can I protect her by misdirect the poop and keeping her clean and safe?
