Hello - I was given a transvaginal ultrasound after persistent dull pain (several years). A 51 x 29 x 45 paraovarian cyst near my right ovary was found.
I had one episode of excruciating, crippling pain (a 10 on the scale) centered around the area of the cyst which had immobilized on the floor and last several hours for which I was later told I should go to the emergency if it ever happens again.
By separate doctors I have been told:
1) I should have someone follow my case asap;
2) I should have an MRI;
3) MRI shall not be beneficial;
4) I should have surgery;
4) I should not be concerned.
I would like to know:
- if a doctor can effectively judge that this is cyst benign (from ultrasound and basic pelvic examination)
- if I should be seriously considering surgery
- if an MRI is a worthwhile exam to have (there is an approximate 8-12mos wait)
- how should I be pursuing this and is there anything I may be able to do to help decrease the cyst naturally
I am a 40-year-old, not terribly active, fairly controlled asthmatic, in moderate good health and of healthy weight for my height (115lbs/5'5) though with far too many stressful issues surrounding me. I am reliant on the public health care systems.
