How To Overcome The Swelling On The Hood And Sides Of My Clitoris?

HI I have unusual swelling on the hood and sides of my clitoris. No discharge or discoloration. I tried to think of what I've done differently lately and Is it possible that I have had an allergic reaction to some facial wipes I used to freshen up? And what do I do to treat swelling?

Hi. It can be an allergic reaction as suspected by you. As there is no discharge or discoloration you can wait for the body to heal on its own. Never to use such wipes. If it is taking time to settle i would give you some anti-allergic medicines like cetirizine and proper cleaning using cotton clothes to keep it dry.

General & Family Physician Dr. Manjeth Kumar G's  Response
Hello,
There are many causes for swelling in labia and clitoris.
As you suspected, it may be due to allergic reaction by wipes.
It may also be due to infection by bacteria or yeast ( fungus) or other sexually transmitted infections.
It is very difficult to identify the cause without examination.
Depending on the physical findings and cause, the treatment may vary.
Soak yourself into warm water twice a day for few days should do the core.
Use regular soap to wash your genital area as your shower gel might cause irritation to this very sensitive area, causing inner labia to swell.
Please consult your gynecologist, to identify the cause for swelling.
If she suspect it to be bacterial infection, she may prescribe anti bacterial.
If the swelling is due to yeast infection, then Anti fungal are essential.
