How To Plan For Conception?

Got period after 2 weeks of continuous use of oral contraceptives. I am 31 and have been taking the pill for a number of years. I am not overweight.I have had a period in the past if I have missed a pill but I have not missed any. I am due to have another week of the pill before the end of this pack. I have started to take multi vitamins as I am planning to stop the pill in a few months in order to start trying for a baby. Please can you advise.

Hi

Oral contraceptives can be stopped after you complete the pack.Your cycles will regularise in the next 2 to 3 cycles after which your fertility will be regained.Your body will adjust to the new hormonal levels.

You need to regularly take folic acid supplements apart from multivitamins which will help in preventing neural tube defects in the developing fetus.

Physical activity for atleast half an hour a day and healthy food is very beneficial.Chances of pregnancy start increasing from the 3rd month of stopping the pills.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards
