Hi,

Noted the history about your 10 month old son, got ear infection 3 times and received antibiotics 5 times, wants to know how to prevent cold cough and congestion and thus not get another ear infection.
The history indicates the following possibilities:
Feeding in laying down position is the commonest reasons for such problems and may not need antibiotic every time. Timely decongestants and anti-inflammatory medicines can help a lot.
Obviously stop feeding in laying down position.
Consult an ENT Surgeon to see for enlarged adenoids, another commonest reason and get treated accordingly.
Watch for the feeds and additives in feeds that can cause intolerance and allergic reactions causing recurrent cold and related problems.
Do not clean ears on your own as this can also cause the problems.
Avoid extreme changes in room atmosphere but at the same time remember proper exposure.
Lastly get Vitamin A and D done and corrected if deficiency is found out.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
