Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Chronic pancreatitis or any other chronic illness can lead to increased hair shedding- Telogen Effluvium. This happens because of shift in the hair cycle from growing phase to resting phase. The stress of illness releases certain chemicals like TGF beta which cause this phase shift. I suggest him to take an oral biotin supplement in addition to attention to his nutrition. His hair fall would recover gradually once he recovers from chronic pancreatitis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Kakkar S.
