How To Proceed With This Result From Endometrial Biopsy?

Endometrial biopsy showing disordered prolifertive phase endometrium. Glands appear pseudostratified with more cytoplasm than expected in my age (65). Taking Provera for two weeks prior to D&C. Would a hysterectomy not be better if my body is still making estrogen??

Hi

I have gone through your query.

Estrogen in the body in many parts of the body and even a hysterectomy does not always remove the ovaries. This would mean that estrogen would still be produced. The reason for removing the uterus is to prevent bleeding in case for fibroid.

Another reason for getting the uterus removed especially in your case is if you have a cancer or tumor like growth. In case you want another opinion on removal of the uterus, please get another Gynecologic opinion. Howeveer, at 65 years, it is usually best to remove the uterus to prevent any complications.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Vignan Rachabattuni
