Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, My grandpa who is 89 had a stroke yesterday. he is just laying there at teh moment with his mouth open and cant talk or move. He is in a nursing home and they are making him comfortable but he had a stroke years ago and has not feeling in his right side. is there a chance he might recover from this? I usually take my little puppy down who he loves would that help him recover?
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Honestly speaking, recurrent stroke in old age patient is not having good prognosis. Severity and prognosis also depends on MRI findings, area of brain involved, hemorrhagic or ischemic stroke etc. So it is very difficult to expect prognosis in his case. Talking to stroke patients, shown them their favourite things do help in recovery. So you can definitely take puppy along side him. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
