Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I am Mr. Nehal, My age is 34years, i am occasional drinker & do work out regularly, I recently have lung function test, my SGOT is 76U/L & SGPT is 114U/L, what will be impact of the increase SGPT & SGOT on our body? i want to lower down the count, please suggest what to do.
Hello dear I understand your concern Lung function test does not affect the SGOT and SGPT test. High level of SGOT and SGPT occur in the liver disease like hepatitis and cirrhosis. It may be due to chronic hepatitis. But it is significant when rise is 5 to 10 fold. You have slight raise level that is not significant if you have normal bilirubin. I advise you to go for serum billirubin and serum protein for further confirmation. (if you have fever, nausea and weakness). Some time vitamin B6 deficiency also cause high liver enzymes. In alcoholism SGOT to SFPT ratio is greaterr then 2. So I do not think it is due to the alcohol. Take diet high in carbohydrate, and low in protein and fat. Take mutivitamin tablet for 1 month. Hope this may help you
