How To Reduce Blood Pressure?

Hi. Age 47. Tested blood pressure 173 over 92. Smoker. & I know I'm eating too much. 2 things I'm going to tackle in the next few weeks.. But I'm a bit concerned with the blood pressure results.. Should I see the doc, or just try to tackle the smoking & dietry stuff first?

Hypertension is a chronic disease of varying etiology (causes).
Most of the time it is a an entity it's own, but sine times it may be associated with some other disease or it may be a complication of some other disease ( secondary hypertension).
So before starting treatment you should undergo proper evaluation and some basic investigations.
Of course you can control hypertension to some extend by diet and exercise irrespective of the cause of hypertension (in fact it's an indispensable part of bp management)
